1ST Annual Champions

The inaugural Civitan Cornhole Classic was held July 13, 2009 at the Wild Hare Sports Cafe in Irmo. The event was a fund raiser for The South Carolina Autism Society and the Civitan International Research Center. Pictured above is the champion team, the Buckeyes. Team members are Christine Radel and Jason Schawb. They survived a long, warm afternoon of cornhole and defeated the Blue Devils in the finals.

The field was composed of teams from as far away as Rock Hill and Spartanburg and all enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of the Wild Hare.

A big thank you goes to our prize donors, event chair Kerry Larsen, Wild Hare Sports Cafe, the volunteers and everyone who helped to make the first Classic a success.

For the Second Annual Classic our location was moved to Schooners - Lake Murray which continued as our host facility through 2022. Except for 2020 spring has become our traditional date. Now, in the Classic's fifteenth year, attendance and funds raised have increased thanks to our wonderful sponsors, players, volunteers and prize donors.

The Civitan Cornhole Classic is a charity cornhole tournament to benefit the Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment, South Carolina Autism Society and the Civitan International Research Center and features a cash purse and door prizes for everyone. Entry fee includes the official Civitan Cornhole Classic t-shirt and a ticket for door prizes. Held annually each spring, the Classic's rules feature a round robin format and fixed frame scoring and make for a fun event for both beginners and experienced players. Thanks to all our sponsors, donors and all that participated in the Classic. You make the difference. Click here for tournament rules.

The Civitan Cornhole Classic is a project of the Dutch Fork Civitan Club. The Dutch Fork Civitan Club is a community service club with membership open to anyone interested in volunteering and helping others. Like Civitan clubs around the world, we have a special interest in helping people challenged by developmental disabilities and support the Civitan International Research Center. Many of our activities focus on the Irmo, Lake Murray, St. Andrews, Chapin and Lexington areas of the midlands but through our common goals with other Civitan clubs we reach out around the world to help people. If playing cornhole doesn't suit you, you're still welcome to come out and enjoy the fun or even volunteer to help with the tournament. Civitan clubs offer varied opportunities to volunteer and visitors are welcome at any of our meetings and activities. The club meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month at Zorba's, 6169 St. Andrews Road. Please join us at the next meeting. Click here to view our calendar of events.
